minimum force in material definition

Post by ca493 »

Hello,

I am using a couple materials in Parallel to simulate strength degradation in a reduced beam section. For the most part, it looks good, however, I would finally like to add one more property: a minimum force where the strength would never degrade below that level.

I have tried a couple different material definitions to add to the Parallel material with no success. The best I could do is to insert this minimum force but it can only be reached if the element happens to be at that strain level (I cannot add it at earlier strain levels because it will mess with the other parallel materials). I would like to have the minimum force available at all strain levels. Just curious, is there a material that has that property inherent in its definition?

Thank you!

not that i know of.
you know, it might be easier and more efficient to just write your own material.
