GID as Post processor

Post by ckolay »

Hi!
I want to use GID as post processor. So the OpenSees output results need to be obtained in a format/sequence which is compatible with GID. Now my question is how do I obtain the OpenSees result in that particular format/sequence.

I shall really appreciate if anyone provide me the detailed steps involved in this.

Thanks in advance...

Dear ckolay,
You may try "geoopensees". Try the following links for details:

Hope this helps.

Further, the details of installation of GiD Problem type (templates) can be found in GiD software Documentation itself.

Basically, I have a generic *.post.res file. I process my output with matlab to become a format readable by gid. then my generic *.post.res file points at the files created by matlab. When i open Gid postprocess it reads my output. For more details I attach you the files I'm using in a separate e-mail.
Cheers!

Dear Avytin,
Nice to hear that you are attaching the Matlab file. Unfortunately your post doesnot contain it. I think you can do copy-paste of the m file in this forum, which i m sure will help many of us.

Thanks and regards

One more time these are just the files I am personally using for my specific model but they could be a start for you.

Good luck!

Hi chinmoy,
u need to edit the source code of opensees for the desired output. However i had done the same in my masters thesis. U can check with the reference available in my thesis from geotechnical dept 2006 batch
Response of soil due to embedded rigid caisson. How ever u cud mail me in case u feel difficulty to understand.
