modeling a concrete dam

Post by susan »

Hello

Is there anybody to know which element is suitable for modeling a concrete dam in opensees?

I am not certain which element is proper, but I will make certain assumptions.
In the 2D analysis, we use a two-dimensional plane strain model. The element has plasticity, creep, swelling, stress stiffening, large deflection, and large strain capabilities.
In the 3D analysis, we use the elements which can tolerate irregular shapes without as much loss of accuracy and have compatible displacement shapes and are well suited to model curved boundaries (like 20-Node element in finite element).

thanks,

Does anyone know what the equivalent of 20-Node element in opensees is?

Dear silvia and Fmk

I want to know the 3d or 2d elements of OpenSEES, can they simulate the concrete material, if they can, how?? how to choose the Damage Plastic modle??
