Question regarding Concrete01

Post by ncatella »

I ran this input file: http://www.nd.edu/~ncatella/test4.txt and got this stress-strain curve: http://www.nd.edu/~ncatella/research.co ... 1.test.xls

Basically, I cycled a strand of Concrete01 material to a strain of 0.001 (compression) and then to 0.001 (tension) in order to test its properties. To my surprise, the plot shows that the strand had some strength in tension. I didn't think that Concrete01 was meant to have any tension strength. Are these results typical, or is there an error in my input file?

Thank you for your time,

it doesn't .. a quirk of this element .. switch to dispBeamColumn or Truss element and you will see that the soln fails to achieve convergence before goes into tension.

If it is a quirk of the element can it be debugged, or is it something that is simply inherent to the element and cannot be changed?
