Tracing the time for NSA

Post by k.manoj »

Dear Dr. Silvia:

I am performing a nonlinear static lateral load analysis. The structure is 2D RC frame and a point load is applied laterally at the mid height of a first floor column. I did displacement control lateral load analysis (like pushover). I could plot the force vs. displcement relation. However, I want to plot displacement vs. time relations at some nodes. But the time values given by the recorders of the displacement control analysis cannot be used. How can I see the displacement time histories?

Thank you in advance

the time is really just a pseudo-type in static analysis.
why is it that the time in the recorders cannot be used? if it is just a pushover, you should not have problems.

because time does not really have a physical meaning in the static analysis, you could just plot the analysis steps, and pretend it is time.
