It is ok to use T-Beam to simulate the effect of slab?

Post by tthdl »

Hello everyone,

I'm doing a pushover analysis on a 2d rc frame. I want to take the slab stiffness into consideration.

So, instead of using the methods found in the forum, like using a truss element, I simply created a T-beam fiber section.

The width of the flange was 12 times the thickness of the slab. The element type was nonlinearBeamDisp.

I wonder if it is correct or not to simulate the effect of the slab. Or there it is other possible issue.

Please let me know! Thank you very much

You will have to check the results yourself in order to answer that question
