.net platform and mono project

Post by ahmetalperparker »

Dear All,
As you know, opensees can be build with visualc++. I have a question. Why not compile opensees into clr (.net's msil code). By this anyone familiar with visual studio languages including j# c# c++ visual basic can make their development in their favorite languages for opensees. Also there is a project which implemented .net 2.0 fully and partially up to .net 3.5 called mono which can run the produced .net code in any of the operating systems including linux, unix, macosx, solaris etc. without recompiling the code. Would not it be a good idea to have much developers with their favorite languages contributing to opensees? If this is not possible I am sorry. This is just an idea.
Best Regards
