thick wall

Post by mohammmad »

Hello,
When the thickness of the wall web is in the range of 80 cm to 120 cm, the core concrete of the web is surrounded by the surrounding concrete, how can we consider this effect?
As you know mander's equation can only use for boundary element and effect of A hoop and crosstie.

There must be something in the literature about this. Or, depending on what you're doing, you can just ignore confinement in the web.

If you rely on the surrounding cover concrete for confinement, that may not be a good assumption as the confinement generally becomes active after spalling of concrete, which happens at early stages of damage
