How can we model a structure including “shear connector" (steel anchor)?

i have seen people break up a beam into a number of segments .. two elements in each segment (one for steel, once for concrete) with different sets of nodes and use zeroLength elements to connect the 2 with the properties of the connectors.

I'm trying to create a model like this. But i get confused when choosing the material orientation of the zero length elements in 3D Rc model. Could you help me in that regard?
