Hi all,
As far as I know, OpenSees does not apply stiffness proportional damping to zeroLength elements. Is there any solution?
Thanks.

Re: Stiffness proportional damping to zeroLength element
why don't you read the command manual .. instructions on how to add rayleigh damping is spelled out there ..

Re: Stiffness proportional damping to zeroLength element
Thank you, Frank.
Already I checked the manual. If I use "-doRayleigh", first Rayleigh command should be defined, so, it will apply to the whole of the model. But I just wanna apply 20% damping to the zeroLength element. How can I do this?
Thank you.

Re: Stiffness proportional damping to zeroLength element
use a region command .. create the region with just the zero length elements and the specified rayleigh factors .. and do not use mass proportional damping term.
