Learning to edit source code - Need help

Post by polimeruvijay »

Dear Opensees Community Members

I am new to Opensees - Source code, I successfully downloaded the source code from SVN, and compiled using visual studio without any errors (luckily).

Could any one please tell me, how can I start approaching the source code. When I look at the source code, different types of functions, header files, classes etc.. are confusing me. Unable to understand where to start. (unable to find the main function too).

Could any one please tell me where to start?

Is there any manual to understand the source code framework?

Which topics in C++ (like pointers, structures, classes, objects, command line arguments etc ), I should be familiar with to understand the source code and write my own elements and materials.

Waiting for reply

Thank you

Sincerely
MohsenShani

Many a times the server is down..

Please try at different times, for me it took almost 2 months to download the source code. Initially I thought I am doing some mistake, but later I realized server is down. Keep trying it is the only way. or Please reply your email IDs, I will send the source code, which I have downloaded.

Thank you
