Displacemet Pushover Ibarra Vs Fiber

Post by rtz »

I made a pushover by applying to all nodes at the top floor a displacement of equal size in x and y direction (45 ° pushover), using for columns once concentric hinge modelling (Ibarra et all) and another case using the beam-with-hinges with fiber section for the columns. Now the fiber model converges without major problems, but the model with Ibarra never drops and then converges slowly. Does anyone help me?

The model with the concentric hinge modelling does not consider the moment-axial force interaction, that may be the reason of the no drop in the pushover. Are you using P-delta in both cases? If you don't have a specific reason of using the Ibarra model, a fiber section is advantageous.
