how to get the same results with disp and force elements?
Dear all,
I have a simple 1 bay to story RC frame in 2-dimensional space. I performed pushover analysis in 3 different conditions.
1. with forcebeamcolumn elements. 2. with nonlinearbeamcolumn elements 3. with dispbeamcolumn elements.
The results of forcebeamcolumn and nonlinearbeamcolumn are very similar but not necessarily the same. How ever the difference between these results and dispbeamcolumn is significant.
How to reduce this difference? Do I have to change other parameters of the analysis when working with different elements?
Thanks in advance

subdivide the beam column elements into a min of 4 elements

other parameters like integrator or ... should not be changed right?

Hi,
What is the use of integrator?
Are you able to resolve the issue with 4 beam elements?
In my case it didnt resolve the issue

Re: how to get the same results with disp and force elements?
Hi,
I'm new in OpenSees. Regarding this query, can you please explain the difference between using nonlinear, force, and disp BeamColumn Elements? I read that they consider the distribution of plasticity along the elements but I'm not sure which one is more convenient.
Thank you!
