leaning column loading

Post by kavir »

Hi
in my model there is p-delta column and if "P" be total Load "(Dl+LL)*$WBuilding" on each Roof so my question is:
what is the load that must be applied to leaning column at each floor?
please explain

that portion of the lateral load that the frame will resist. similar to the percentage of the horizontal floor mass you are assigning to the nodes in the frame.

is there any effect of p-delta column (leaning column) on stiffness of a frame?
In my model, period of frame is different with and without p-delta column. is it normal?

depends on how you model it and if the pDelta column has undergone displacement.

do you mean that with Pdelta the displacements are different than w/o PDelta for some transient analysis .. the answer is yes .. they are different models

yes.

yes .. what you describe is consistant with a large PDElte effect on a building .. think what hapens with the typical PDElate effect shown in textbooks for a pushover case.
