Takes a long time during gravity analysis

Post by amirmassoud »

Hi everybody ...
My model is a 3D reinforced concrete structure with shear walls.
It contains 20 stories.
Elements are defined as fiber sections and modeled with dispBeamColumn elements.
My goal is to run time history analysis.
but it takes a long time during gravity analysis without any error or warnings !
Even i waited and keep runing up to 24 hours, but the gravity analysis didn't finish.
The message is :
CTestEnergyIncr::test<> - iteration: 1 current EnergyIncr: 7.87942e-005 <max:1e-007>
Please help me if possible ...

I tried two system solvers : SparseGeneral and also Umfpack.
but the result was the same.
Gravity analysis takes long time for both system methods.

My model contains approximately 776 nodes,
640 dispBeamColumn as column element,
1120 dispBeamColumn as beam element,
80 dispBeamColumn as shear wall element.

Which Concrete material did u use? if you used Concrete02, try using Concrete01 and see what will happen :|

I have been used concrete02,
according to your suggestion, I changed it to concrete01and ran the model again.
I waited for about one and half hour but during gravity load analysis, the same message as I mentioned above is shown without error or warnings.
The message is :
CTestEnergyIncr::test<> - iteration: 1 current EnergyIncr:...
CTestEnergyIncr::test<> - iteration: 2 current EnergyIncr:...
CTestEnergyIncr::test<> - iteration: 3 current EnergyIncr:...
Should I wait more to get static analysis results?!

Hi everybody ...
I improved my PC's RAM from 8G to 12G & tried again.
I succeeded to run the static analysis.
Thanks to all ...
