tie Structural node to soil node

Post by alimohammadian »

I want to tie Structural node to soil node.
when I use equalDOF analysis fails.
please see the following link

How do I conncect structural node (three degrees of freedom) to soil node (two degrees of freedom)?

equalDOF is the way to do it .. if you are modeling piles with the forceBeamColumn DON't .. use the dispBeamColumn as you have so many beam segments making up the pile that forcebeamColumn will have issues and that many disp beam columns gives a reasonable curvature distribution

Dear fmk

structural nodes have three degrees of freedom but soil nodes have two degrees of freedom.
What should be done with the third degree of freedom nodes?

hi all :) I am a starter to opensees and the link which i have mentioned above, iam trying to understand this example. but i am facing one problem. when i take the output of this code in the form of pile displacement, soil reaction and shear force of pile it gives the depth values from 10m to 20m, rather than giving from 1m to 20m.. The same example i have run with Lpile its giving correct results, but the output of opensees is not giving so??? can anyone help please?
Zip file attached is the code of the program.waiting for the reply please.
