Different results at different runs of same model

Post by Jeena »

Hi all,

I am running a model for dynamic analysis (incremental dynamic analysis ) using a set of ground motions. If I run the same model two different times under the same analysis conditions, I get slightly different responses ... I am not changing any model or analysis parameters and just running the same file a second time ...

Does someone encountered such a case before ??? Does it have to do something about a computer processor or any other reasons for this behavior ??

Thanks,
Jeena

Hi Jeena,

if all the conditions in your runs are the same and you got two different results, it seems that in second run, your model had some initial variable's values from the first run.
use wipe command before second run or reload opensees.
I hope it works.

regards,
Hamid.

Jeena,

you might need to send me the model.

Hi,

@radmard - thanks for your suggestion. I cleared the analysis commands and model properties using 'wipe' and wipeAnalysis commands, but this didn't help to resolve the trouble.

@fmk, I have send the models to your email. Please have a look on those.

How did this go for you? I definitely don't think it's the computer processor anyway.

Hi,

I still couldn't find a reason for this. I made sure I am putting all wipe commands in proper places and no variable is repeating.

Thanks,
Jeena
