Hi dear all
as we dont have transformation for truss element how we can define local access for this type of element in 2D and 3D models?
Many Thanks

Re: geomTransf for Truss element
no need,
truss element no need to define geometric Transformaion.
truss element no need to define geometric Transformaion.
Re: geomTransf for Truss element
a truss only has area so there is no need to define a local axis as it only needs one axis, the x axis defined to be from iNode to jNode
Re: geomTransf for Truss element
many thanks dear fmk and dear shani
I mean when we use trussSection element that we have to assign a pereviusly difined section to the element. as there is no transformation how OpenSees consider local axis in 2D and 3D models?

Re: geomTransf for Truss element
does not matter .. it is just using axial components (E*A) and axial force, the orientation of axis for Iz and Iy compuatations are irrelevant.
