how to model a specific plastic hing

Post by omidgahremani »

I have the moment rotation relationship of my steel structure's plastic hing ,including yield moment ,yield rotation ,ultimate moment and ultimate rotation and a third linear part that moment drops to zero after that. the problem is ,I don't know with which command I can implement this hinge in my structural model.
I have seen a few command such as rotspring and etc in opensees manual but these commands requires defining a material that include the properties of moment rotation relationship but I can't find the appropriate material for this objective.
I am very grateful for your attention and kind help.

look at MultiLinear, Hysteretic or if you want degredation Bilin (Bilin though has convergence issues)

i suggest after you build the model with the hinge you compare the eigenvalues against an elastic model.

Hello
I had the same problem.
Bilin Material is the best.
thanks

Hello
I have another question.
does Bilin Material work for force deformation relationship?
Or it only works for moment-rotation relationship?
thanks
