Nonlinear Time History Analysis of 3D RC Frame

Post by alirezaarab »

Hi
I am modeling a 3D RC structure with nonlinearBeamColumn element for beams and columns and ShellMITC4 element for slabs.
When using PDelta geomTransf I have no warning in gravity and transient analysis but if I change the geomTransf to Corotational analysis will fail under gravity, and some columns get incompatible element forces and deformations !!
How do I find out where the problem is?

not sure what to tell you .. did you check the results of the gravity loads to ensure the loads where indeed vertical and not horizontal and also to check that the nodes were not undergoing large displacements .. also try changing the model to be elastic and see what happens.

hi frank

I had post this question long time ago and forgot to tell you the outcome

I changed my computer and run the same code with same OpenSEES version, Guess what , there were no errors and the result was accurate. Anything in your mind with this situation?

was it the same revision number .. the revision number comes after the version number ... i update the .exe every now again w/o making a new release to allow developers to get their code out for testing or to get important bug fixes out quickly.
