Does anyone know if OpenSees is capable of saving output files in a different folder than where the source file is originally located? I have tried -file FolderName\node1.out in the recorder command without success.
Thanks!

Re: Problems with Fiber Section
I found an error with one of the fiber section coordinates; when I fixed this error, the element only moves vertically and not horizontally now. However, I still cannot figure out why the vertical displacements are so large compared to the elasticBeamColumn element. Included is the updated file for ...

Problems with Fiber Section
Hello all, I am modeling a L2x2x1/8 angle as a simple BeamColumn with a 100 lb point load acting in the vertical direction at the midpoint. The angle section is rotated such that it opens downward. In other words, the angle at 0 degrees from the vertical looks like " L ". When rotated 135 ...

Re: fiber section
Dear fmk, I am having a similar problem to that mentioned by Olympia. I am modeling a L2x2x1/8 angle as a simple BeamColumn with a 100 lb point load acting in the vertical direction at the midpoint. The angle section is rotated such that it opens downward. In other words, the angle at 0 degrees from...

Re: T-shaped wall
Dear Vesna, I am running into the same problem as Jfoyian. When I set up a simple BeamColumn element with a fiber section, I get the same results whether I define the origin of the local coordinate system at the geometric centroid of the section or the corner of the section. I am also confused as to...

Re: Can truss elements be used in 3D modeling?
Thank you for the assurance that truss elements can be used in 3D models. I will apply more constraints to my model.

Can truss elements be used in 3D modeling?
I created a 3D model with truss elements and am getting the following error: WARNING BandGenLinLapackSolver::solve<> -LAPACK routine returned 8 WARNING NewtonRaphson::solveCurrentStep<> -the LinearSysOfEqn failed in solve <> StaticAnalysis::analyze<> - the Algorithm failed at iteration: 0 with domai...
