i wangt to build a 2D RC-frame. i use the Geometric Transformation Command in the element define. must the transfTag of beam and the transfTag of column be differrent??? why???
can i use the same Tag to beam and column of Geometric Transformation .

my opinion
i found the section moment-curvature time–history curve is secund, when the section is yield under the positive moment after yield under negative moment.i think the section be yield at negative curvature under positive moment is right, becouse the area of top steel is more than the bottom's.

record of stress-strain
when i define a plane frame.the fiber section is composed of steel and concrete. but when i record the fiber at the same height of steel .the stress and strain is always equel the steel ,even the Cover concrete at the height of steel in the section.

may be an error in manual
when i use the beamwithhinges element to define a cantilever.the hinges length is 0.6m,the cantilever length is 6m.according to the manual"HingeLength:ratio of hinge length to total element length at node",so the HingeLength should be 0.6/6=0.1.and we know the beamwithhinges element only h...

are you first imposing gravity and then cyclic loads? isn't gravity imposing an initial curvature and then the cyclic revolves around that curvature, not the zero curvature? yes, silvia, you are right.there is initial curvature.but the initial curvature is very small.(in my problem,it's about 0.00012...

error when use opensees1.6.2 in winxp
when i use opensees1.6.2 to caculate a RC frame(use nonlinear element).the static analysis(gravity load analysis) could finish successfully.but when the opensees start trasient analysis .windows will report an error, and opensees terminate then.when i did not record section stiff of element, the opens...

problem in equivalent nodal forces and moments
when I use nonlinear element or beamwithhinges element to define a portal frame, and add nodal forces and moments to the end points of beam for representing the vertical distributed load along the beam. The beam's end section moment-curvature time–history curve is very second too.I think this curve ...

there's some problem in eleload command
I use the nonlinearBeamColumn element to build a portal frame, and import an acceleration of ground motion(taft) to this frame, and do the Transient analysis. I found if I use “eleload command” for adding vertical distributedload to beam .the beam's end section moment-curvature time–history curve is ...

other section to model Reinforced Concrete frame?
is there other way to build Reinforced Concrete frame modal for nonlinear analysis except fiber section?the User Manual only introduce elastic Elastic ,Uniaxial Section and fiber section.when i use Uniaxial Section ,how to choose the Material to simulate the RC frame!

problem of beam moment-curvature figure
I use the nonlinearBeamColumn element to build a portal frame, and import an acceleration of ground motion(taft) to this frame, and finish the Transient analysis. but when i analyze the beam's end section moment-curvature time–history curve, I find the figure is very secund? the column's is proper. N...

the HingeLength of BeamWithHinges Element
i found the hingelength decide the result of analysis in BeamWithHinges Element.how to choose the length of hinge normally? the hingelength is length of hinge or the ratio of hinge's length to element's length?
