some problems

Hello! I noticed some interesting problems. 1. I executed the same scripts in two computer with same OpenSees version. Displacements is plotted in windows with code. recorder plot PierNode-1_$idaSa-E$earthquake.out Node_25_Xdisp 10 100 800 300 -columns 1 26 -dT 0.01 recorder display DynamicColumn 10...

Thanks a lot! I don't mind the computational efficiency, just wonder what was going on.

I'm using 1.6.2 version, and it also employs about 50% system capability on Windows system of PC. I want to know how to get a parallel version.

employ more system resource

I find a very strange problem. When you compute with Opensees, and it just employs about 50% system capability, even for the server with 2 CPUs. I want to know how to improve its performance.

point hinge

Does anyone know How to simulate the point hinge in OpenSees? In the SAP2000, we can input rigid-plastic moment-rotation relation without hinge length.

Thanks in advance!

you should use dx=100.0/60.0. When you use dx=100/60, program would round-off number.

Displacement based element suppose distributed plasticity has linear curvature distribution. The purpose of my research find the actual curvature distribution, so it couldn't meet. I will refine the element according your suggestion, Thank you!

Thank you for your answer, Berk Taftali. Perhaps I didn't make you understand. I want to apply IDA(increment Dynamic Analysis) that scale the sesmic acceleration, so it may reach about 5g. I had try reducing the time step to 1/10 present time step for convegence, but it is unsuccessful. The 'g' in m...

convergence issue

I built a bridge model with fiber element and applied uniform excitation. I set g=4.8 and get convergent result. When I increase the value of g, from 4.9 to 20.0, I couldn't get the convergent result. The program stoped earlier and earlier because of the increcement of g. The script and data file ar...

beamWithHinges issue

In command manual, the command as follow,
element beamWithHinges $eleTag $iNode $jNode $secTagI $HingeLengthI $secTagJ $HingeLengthJ $E $A $Iz $Iy $G $J $transfTag <-mass $massDens> <-iter $maxIters $tol>
If I just need one hinge in one element, how to settle?

convergence issue

Hello, everyone.

I performed a transient analysis. When I take P-delta effect into account, the analysis stop for convergence issue. But the analysis could achieve convergence leaving P-delta effect alone. How to improve the convergence of the analysis?

Thanks!!

The command that berktaftali give me is right. When the program is running, we must stop recoder object that is writing data to the file. So "remove recorder" is necessary.

Thanks for your help, berktaftali.

I see. For a fiber section, the recorded values will be axial deformation and curvature. So what fmk said is wrong.

Thank you! From the scripts, we know that Fig b is right. For example, $numIntgrPts equal to 5, and length of element is 2. We aquire the deformation of section 2. fmk has said, for the section it's the angle .. we try to update the documentation as users post questions like this .. keep them coming...
