Re: Pushover analysis using OpenSeesSP

Hi fmk, to answer your questions:

1. mumps does Not fail with np = 1 when I do static and then transient. The problem starts only for np > 1.
2. With np > 1, I can only do a transient analysis but not the transient following a static analysis.

Would you still like to see my script?
Thanks.

Re: Pushover analysis using OpenSeesSP

Thanks fmk, that sounds like a good idea but for some reason I cannot use more than 1 processors for other than Mumps. I would like to use Mumps for the for time consuming analysis and some other solver for gravity analysis. Is it possible to do gravity analysis with np = 1 and then do more time con...

Re: Eigen analysis before and after gravity analysis

A couple of things: 1. Period before and after gravity should be unchanged if your model is completely elastic i.e., no nonlinear material and NO PDelta transformation. Make sure you are using linear geometric transformation for all elements. 2. Period using fiber sections will reduce because of the...

Re: Pushover analysis using OpenSeesSP

Hi fmk, sorry, I was doing a transient analysis following gravity. It appears to be working when I only do transient. What does this mean? Thanks.

Re: Pushover analysis using OpenSeesSP

Hi fmk,

The same story with transient analysis as well.

Thanks.

Pushover analysis using OpenSeesSP

Hi, I am conducting a pushover analysis of a large model using OpenSeesSP. Model runs fine with np = 1 but takes about 10 hours to complete. When I switch to np > 1, gravity analysis completes successfully but then nothing happens afterwards; no errors messages and no sign of completion even after 1...

Re: A problem about OpenSeesSP

So that means iterations must be going on inside ele. I thought it's the problem with recorders. I was checking by refreshing the output files while program is running, which keeps iterating on different elements at different times. May be the buffer issue.

Re: A problem about OpenSeesSP

Hi fmk,

I also realized that recorder stops working with mumps while iterations are going on inside force-based elements in a transient analysis. My model has about 10,000 nodes and 10,000 force based fiber beam column elements. Any work-around or suggestions for this?

Thanks.

Re: base isolator modeling in opensees

why don't you go with elastomeric bearing element?

Re: base isolator modeling in opensees

You can use elastomeric bearing element to model LRB. It's the simplest model that you should start with. Then you can also explore kikuchi bearing element and leadrubberX elements.

Re: Recorders in parallel versions

Thanks fmk. Do you then think that adding up the bottom story element forces will give correct reaction for any number of processors (until the reaction recorder is fixed)?
