thanx for ur answer but i want to use elements in series , for example a nonlinear beam column with 3 hinges in begining, middle and end of it. i want to have it as just one element. that when i define it between two nodes and defining parameters of section and hinges, i define it at once, the whole...

New element
hi dr silvia
is there any way to define a new element using existing elements ???
i mean like beamWithHinges or TrussElement they are just another definition for existing elemets that mixed in way that serve a new purpose,
how can I do it???

Sub Node
hi dr silvia when i want to model buckling, i need to have extra points in the element at the center of it and near the center, Is there any way to define sub nodes that without exhusting numbering just be used in the modelling and analysises time without having a real permanent tag ???? thanx for y...

Pseudo Time
Hi Dr Silvia
what is Pseudo Time in opensees?
how does it determine and effect the analysis??
Thanks for your answer.

Hi Dr. Mckenna thanx for your answer , as i understood I have to use LoadConst whenever I have a constant load during whole analysis like gravity loads and whenever I have a load like seismic loads that change in every step of loading, this command shouldn't be used.Is it OK? my second question is W...

LoadConst
hello dear Silvia I have a problem by understandig of LoadConst command, I have read opensees help but it confused me more. I modeled a bulding and apply gravity loads on dummy columns once with this command and once without, when i use it and apply dynamic analysis, collapse is at 4 times higher PG...

Adoptive Push over analysis
Hi Dr Silvia I tried to perform an adoptive push over analysis I used a recorder as this: recorder Node -time -file OUT/eigen.txt -node 114 214 314 -dof 1 "eigen 1" ,this nodes are my center nodes that can predict overall eigen shape, but even by buckling of my braces eigen values did not ...

I ask this because when I calculate total mass and use mass command my periods are very diffrent than when i use -mass in element. by mass comannd T=0.35 and by using -mass in element T=1.24 and both are diffrent from T calculated by sap2000 sap T=0.86 Which on is correct ? How can I find real T ? T...
