I tried changing the system command. I tried each of the available systems. They all gave me the same message except: ProfileSPD gave a run time error UmfPack gave a opensees error that said the LValue was too small. I think that my system is not suited for this system. I have no idea what to do nex...

Unexpected error closes opensees during gravity
Hi,
I sent Frank my model of a 20 story building that was closing out opensees while run gravity analysis. I think that it is a memory problem but I don't know what to do. Can someone please help.

Runtime Error in Eigen Command
Dear Frank, I have a large model of a nine story building with a mesh of shell elements describing the floors of the building. The problem occurs when I attempt to run and eigen analysis the program shuts down and a Runtime error message is displayed. "Program: C:\tcleditor\bin\OpenSees.exe Thi...

Modelling Building floors (shell element)
Hello, I am modeling a three story building in three dimensions and am looking for the floor response due to triaxial excitation. I have a bare frame model that uses frame elements and floor described with a rigidDiaphragm command. I also have a model that explicitly models the floor diaphragm with ...

Hello basir, I too am modeling the SAC building except I am modeling the entire building in 3-D. I also am having difficulty matching the period with my SAP models, however your period match significantly better than mine in the elastic case. I was wondering if you were modeling any pin ended beam c...

Thank you, That's what I have done. I think the constraints handler may be an issue. I understand that the Penalty and Lagrange methods are not the best for transient analysis. Thus that leaves the transformation method, however if I want to assign rigid diaphragms at the floor level I then have con...

This is part of a 3-story building with 6 bays in one plan direction and 4 bays in the other plan direction. The moment frames are on the exterior frames in each direction but the interior frame have simple beam column connections. When you say remove the rotational degree of freedom do you mean wit...

help with equalDOF command
I am trying to model an interior column of a multiple story building in a 3D model. There are four beams connected to column at each floor level, all of which are pinned. I have defined 5 nodes at this location and connected them with the equalDOF command. The master node is defined as node1 and fou...

SAC Buildings
Hello Anyone,
I am trying to develop 3-D models of the original LA SAC Buildings (3- 9- 20-). I am having difficulty matching the periods of vibration to SAP Models. Has anyone modeled these buildings in the past and had similar problems.
Thanks

Modeling Simple Connections
Hello Anyone,
I am new to OpenSees and am having difficulty modeling beams with end releases (simple "pin" connections). If anyone could let me know how this is done simply I would appreciate it.
Thank you
