viscous material convergence problem

Hi! I am modeling a viscous damper with truss element. I use the control scrips for convergence. However, the result seems to be wrong. Small displacement variation can cause big velocity variation, which produce the big damping force. Someone say it's the integral method cause the ploblem. Would yo...

The matlab scrips you mention can be use in RC section as well.
I find it is a useful tool to check the section.

That's a great help!
If I put viscous material in a truss element, dose L equal the truss length?
And what is L stand for if I use a zerolength element with viscous material?

Thanks! As you say, we define truss directly with viscous material. but how to define the material area?

Hi!fmk. Do you means use 2 nodes for 2 zerolength element in pallarel?
I have a another question. I use viscous material in a Uniaxial Section with
a truss to simulate viscous brace, which get same result with that without brace. Can you tell how to model a viscous damper? Thanks!
