Re: Modelling issue
Please have a look at this one. This is better. It compares two approaches. I did this with multiple base excitation method with sap by defining a large mass to that joint, and apply the acceleration with multiplying by stiffness. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s12206-013-0941-x But a pro...

Modelling issue
How can I model this in OpenSees? Is it possible to apply large mass method in Ansys to OpenSees? For base excitation, you define a large mass and fix the to be restrained joints with constraints to the large mass joint. Then only apply earthquake acceleration to the large mass (large mass times gro...

node Recorder fails
Hi, when using test EnergyIncr +1.000000E-07 25 5 2 node recorder does not record the displacement values after convergence failure using recorder Node -file AnalysisCase02_Node_Recorder01_Dsp.out -time -node 45 -dof 1 2 disp only records up to first convergence result. How can I solve this issue?

Re: Catenary Cable Element not working
Perhaps it should be in the latest sources. Download them from github and compile.
Hope this helps

Segmentation Fault on Large Model
Hi, I have built the latest version of OpenSees for Linux. I have a very large model file with 67179 nodes and 267816 elements (specially they are tetrahedron). When I source the model file, a segmentation fault occurs. How can I overcome this issue (I have enough memory as hardware)? Where is the d...

FourNodeTetrahedron
Hi,
I got ERROR -- element of type FourNodeTetrahedron not known from OpenSees.
When will this element be available? It is on the wiki page but not on OpenSees 2.5.0 rev 6536
Thanks

OpenSees Under Linux
Hi,
I cannot download the source files so I cannot build for a Linux machine. How can I get the latest sources since I need a recent version?
Best Regards
Alper

MFront
Hi,
Is it possible to integrate MFront (http://tfel.sourceforge.net/) to OpenSees? It is a code generation tool for materials, and it will ease development of new materials. It is currently supporting many open and closed source programs. Is it possible to make an interface for OpenSees?

selfWeight in brick elements
Hi, Will there be an update in the near future for selfWeight command for brick elements? When using element load as eleLoad -ele 1 -type -selfWeight command fails. Looking at the wiki page, I see that it is only defined for line elements. So will it be available in the very near future? If not, app...

How to add a solver to OpenSees
Hi, I want to implement a solver that I wrote to OpenSees. How can I do that (the wiki page is empty)? I have written it in C# and created a .NET based dll. Is it possible to call a .NET dll from OpenSees? Alternatively, I have successfully called my solver from matlab. Is it possible to call matlab...

Re: Orthotropic Material
Ok, I found the difference. OpenSees uses lower triangle for compliance matrix for poisson ratios. Calculating by hand the appropriate equivalents of poisson ratios give same results.
Thanks a lot.
Thanks a lot.

Orthotropic Material
Hi, I have a very simple example for quad element and I compared the results with Sap2000. For isotropic elastic material, the results are same. For orthotropic material, the results are different. I think the formulations are same for quad element in both programs. And as a result, the results shou...

Membrane Element
Hi All,
Will there be an implementation of a membrane element in OpenSees like the one in Sap2000 (with drilling degrees of freedoms)? If yes, when will it be available?
Best Regards

Osi approved license...
Dear All, Is OpenSees really Open? Is the license OSI approved? (for details: www.opensource.org/) Also, if it is not, how and where should I apply for OpenSees to be released under an OSI approved license. Since the development of the code is sponsored by national/public funds, why it is not fully ...
