Pipeline Modeling
hello every one , I am modeling a buried pipeline in opensees and to perform dynamic analysis on it.I have checked my source code by partially running it and it works fine but when i do analysis, it does not run and start giving following errors, Does anybody have an idea why this is happening.Pleas...

Soil-pipeline Interaction
Hello everyone
I have one question that how can we model interaction between soil and pipelines as I am considering soil as spring elements...?? Can anyone show me some example regarding it??? Please guys.i need ur guidance.hoping for the response..

p-y curves
hello everyone, For modelling a pipeline, during step of creating spring materials, do we have to define p-y criteria like we do in during modelling of pile foundation, or do we have to define spring materials(force-deformation relationship) like this uniaxialMaterial ElasticPP 1 472959.528571 0.003...

Re: Buried Steel pipeline
thanks for ur kind reply respected Admin.
But If I would have sample code of pipeline dynamic analysis modelled as Beam on Non-Linear Winkler foundation,it would have been a great help..

Re: Design of pipeline
The governing equation for flexural wave propagation is derived for one dimensional wave equation in an infinite medium. Bernoulli-Euler theory of beam is considered, i.e. only pure bending is considered. So if the material of the beam is considered as homogeneous, then the motion in the vertical di...

Buried Steel pipeline
Hi everyone, I am modeling a buried steel pipeline and trying to perform dynamic analysis of pipeline. I have completed the pipe geometry and mesh part.Does anyone here have an opensees code or any example of modelling a pipeline in which dynamic analysis is performed.???? It would be a great help t...

Re: Design of pipeline
Hi soheil :_) thanks for ur kind reply :) it was really quite important piece of information. Actually i am considering flexural waves along the beam, so if i am using steel pipeline I have to to put its young,s modulus but as i am considering flexural waves so they will be bending along the beam. D...

And also if i consider for example total length of pipeline (which i am assuming it a beam) to be 100m.

Re: Design of pipeline
Hi thanks for replying :) I am performing dynamic simulations.actually i am stuck in finding the minimum element length for now. I have to find flexural wave propagation speed if for example i am applying impact load in the range 0f 3kHz to 6kHz. Is there any formula or equation to find flexural wav...

Hello all, I hope everyone will be fine. Guys I am modeling a pipeline in opensees based on BEam On Non-Linear Winkler Foundation(BNWF).I have a question that HOW transverse wave propagation speed help me decide the minimum element length??? And what would be the criteria to select the appropriate m...
