Park-Ang damage index parameters

Dear Prof. FMcKENNA Hi ... I am going to calculate Park-Ang damage index for 3D RC model under several seismic excitations during time history analysis. I need to know maximum deformation of each elements or members end rotation and also Force-Displacement values to obtain hysteretic energy absorbed...

period of structure in OpenSEES and ETABS

I have modeled a 3D RC 3 stories structure both in OpenSEES and ETABS.
But period of structure is different !
Period of structure calculated from OpenSEES is 0.523 sec and from ETABS is 0.926 sec.
Help me if possible

Push over analysis doesn't converge!

Hi everybody ... My model is a 3D reinforced concrete structure. It contains 3 stories. Elements are defined as fiber sections and modeled with dispBeamColumn elements. But push over analysis doesn't converge. Help me if possible ... # -------------------- # Push over analysis # --------------------...

Re: Gravity analysis doesn't converge

Dear fmk, The message is : ModifiedNewton::solveCurrentStep<> -the ConvergenceTest object failed in test <> StaticAnalysis::analyze<> -the algorithm failed at iteration 45 with domain at load factor 0.46 openSees > analyze failed , returned: -3 error flag Is it because of great loads or incorrect ma...

Gravity analysis doesn't converge

Hi everybody ... My model is a 3D reinforced concrete structure with shear walls. It contains 20 stories. Elements are defined as fiber sections and modeled with dispBeamColumn elements. My goal is to run time history analysis. But gravity analysis doesn't converge. Help me if possible ... # -------...

Re: Takes a long time during gravity analysis

Hi everybody ...
I improved my PC's RAM from 8G to 12G & tried again.
I succeeded to run the static analysis.
Thanks to all ...

Re: Takes a long time during gravity analysis

I have been used concrete02, according to your suggestion, I changed it to concrete01and ran the model again. I waited for about one and half hour but during gravity load analysis, the same message as I mentioned above is shown without error or warnings. The message is : CTestEnergyIncr::test<> - it...

Re: Takes a long time during gravity analysis

My model contains approximately 776 nodes,
640 dispBeamColumn as column element,
1120 dispBeamColumn as beam element,
80 dispBeamColumn as shear wall element.

Re: Takes a long time during gravity analysis

I tried two system solvers : SparseGeneral and also Umfpack.
but the result was the same.
Gravity analysis takes long time for both system methods.
