Re: PathSeries could not open file on Mac OS 10.6

I have the same problem. When I source files they work only if I define the full path... And this happens only if I run the input file in Mac, no problem in PC.

This is a big issue in OpenSees. As far as I know, you can not do it for the time being. I had the same problem with Brick8N elements. Please see; opensees.berkeley.edu/community/viewtopic.php?t=4604&highlight=brick8n&sid=525feedf1c89c848f8e33f7bc22033a5 I would imagine that the most importa...

Hello Boris, Thanks for asking for help. I have a very simple portal RC frame filled with masonry infill. All elements are modelled with simple elastic materials, infill material is modelled with elastic anisotropic one. So, everything works elastic. Infills are modelled with Brick8N elements. There...

I get the same problem with so many commands (i.e. ndf, or element etc.). Rogers is rigth, but if we can not open our tcl files in a tcl editor, how can we edit them? (Yes I know, we can use notpad but than tcl looses its benefit). I could not understand this very well. Are we supposed to use tcl ed...

Recording stress fro Brick8N

Hi, I have a brick element created by using Brick8N and I try to get stress output. OpenSees crates the output file but it is always empty. I created an example below so that you could check it out. Thanks in advance, Ihsan... ----------------------------------------------------------------- model B...

......node 1...........node 2 left.. 0=========0 ..right ..........zrlng element Let me clarify my question. My assumption is this, I define the element from node1 to node 2. Additionally, I define the orientation of the x axis as : 1 1 0 . So, I suppose that any displacement which causes node2 to m...

zerolength elements

Hi, I use ElasticPPGap material assigned to zerolength elements. My quesiton is that, how a zerolength element can understand which direction is in tension and which one is in compression? I have node 1 and 2 which have the same coordinates. 1 is totally fixed and 2 is moving under loading. If 2 mov...

I use this tension/compression-only material you mentioned to define a compression-only contact element between the wall and the frame; however, I need another element/material which will work perpendicular to the former and its yield will be a function of the force of the former.

Hi Roy, I had exactly the same problem. please check http://opensees.berkeley.edu/community/viewtopic.php?t=2994&sid=83e834c15b19d294207c60f2e09dba16. I have some brick elements to be connected with the frame (stick) elements by means of some zerolength elements. The frame has 6 dof and the bric...

Taking into account the friction

Hi everybody, I have RC surrounding frame and masonry infill wall. Between the coinciding joints of these two, I would like to model some frictional response (most probably by using zero-lentgh elements). However, the friction exists only if wall touches to the frame (compression only). Additionally...

equalDOF does not help

Hi Silvia, Thanks for your suggestion. I tried but no success. Here is the situation; What I give below is a panel consisting 4x4 nonlin brick elements. It runs perfectly; ======================================= model BasicBuilder -ndm 3 -ndf 3 #################### Nodes ############################...

I understand why it gives that error. I define some struts between two nodes. One node is the node of the wall (3 dof) and the other one is frame's (6 dof). they are not compatible.

I do not know how to solve it.

Thanks for your answer on that. It is just perfect.

The first way is just for my case. In fact, I have already introduced anisotropic elasticity (ElasticCrossAnisotropic element) but I was not sure if it would also affect the failure criteria.

Thanks again,

You are right.

I used section Aggregator and combined the section properties with elastic torsional stiffness. Now, it is OK.

I still have the other error :

ForceBeamColumn3d::setDomain<>:Nd2 or Nd1 incorrect dof --------

What does it mean?

Thanks again...
