Join a plate to a frame
Hi all I have a plate that simulated with shell element and a frame under the plate that simulated with fiber steel w-section. In the fiber section, the local coordinate system defined in the middle of the web of w-section. How can I join the plate with the flange of w-section that lies on it? Best ...

Re: problem with Manzari-Dafalias material
I have a problem in using material Manzari-Dafalias. When I compare lateral earth pressures computed by Opensees software with manually calculated values(σ_h=k_0*σ_v), computed values by Opensees are so less than manually calculated values and when I use Poisson ratio to 0.35 mentioned computed valu...

Periodic boundary condition
Hi
What conditions does Periodic boundary condition in example "Simulating a Centrifuge Test" states?
Example is in the following link: http://opensees.berkeley.edu/wiki/index ... ifuge_Test

Re: Excavation
I want to model an excavation in OpenSees, so far, I have to simulate the stage construction process. In this regard, some elements should be omitted. My question is about the forces which should be imposed to the remained part of the boundary. Does the software impose the generated unbalanced force...

Excavation
Hi, During the process of excavation modeling, when we were eliminating the desired elements, Gaussian and weight forces caused by the eliminated elements must be imposed on the nodes of eliminated boundaries. I wonder is this software capable of calculating and imposing these forces on the boundary...

Modeling dry soil
Dear all, I need to model dry soil in three dimensional space. Can I use u-p element and fix fluid pressure DOF instead of using dry soil element such as stdBrick?
best regards

Zero length element in Gid
Hello
I need to define zero length element in Gid software for considering interface and absorbing boundaries. Is there anybody know how I can define this element?

Re: Material NewTemplate3Dep
I have run the analysis forcing a drained condition, but the value of Ko obtained less than 0.1!
I think the material "ManzariDafalias" only computes stress and strain of element. For applying soil lateral pressure in stages soil self weight and seismic shaking, what should I do?

Re: Material NewTemplate3Dep
Thank you for your time Using command “Element brickUP” and “nDmaterial ManzariDafalias”, I have made a three-dimensional model of soil column at Opensees. Under gravity analyzing stage, horizontal stress ratio of element to vertical stress of element (K0) didn’t give a logical value. So, how soil s...

Lateral earth pressure
I want to modeled a column of the soil with nDmaterial ManzariDafalias and element brickUP. How can i consider the lateral earth pressure in modeling?
