Re: 2D frame in 3D space
Hi, I added more nodes along the columns i.e. columns now consisted of 10 elements rather than 1 element which was before. This has solved the issue with the modal and transient analyses in which the mass matrices seem now generated with no problem. BUT, the static pushover is not working as before ...

Re: 2D frame in 3D space
Hi Frank,
I appreciate your feedback. Could you please advise a relevant example, i.e. 2d structure in 3d space, so that I could compare my model. I did n't find any in OpenSees Wiki.

2D frame in 3D space
Hi Frank, I have a simple 2D frame (1 story 3 bays frame in inplane dir and cantilevered in outplane dir) and want to perform a bi-direction transient analysis in 3D space (i.e. model BasicBuilder -ndm 3 -ndf 6). But there seems to be a problem with the mass definition. I tried with both nodal (lump...

nodal mass vs. distributed mass
Dear Frank, I am modelling a bridge in OpenSees using the linear ShellMITC4 element for bridge deck. I performed eigenvalue analysis of the bridge modeled by elastic beam and elastic shell element. As a result the modal period values and mode shapes would change significantly. But comparing to the e...

Re: OpenSees error
supratikbose,
Based on my experience this means that you have some free nodes. What I did was to open the tcl file via OSnavigator and I found I generate a redundant row of nodes at the location of SP constraints.
Good luck

Re: View the mode shape of an eigen analysis
Hi everyone,
I am wondering to know if it is possible to change the color of either nodes or deformed shape for viewing the mode shapes?

Re: Import SAP/ETABS model into Opensees
Hi everyone,
I am wondering to know if there should be any special command in a ".tcl" file to be able to import it into OSPnav?
I imported some files successfully but there are some model files which could not be opened. I am quite sure that there is no problem with the .tcl files.

Hi
Can someone help about the correct drift recorder?
Is this one correct?
recorder Drift longitudinal/drift_col.disp -time node@col_top node@col_butt exitation_dir col-axis_dir

Re: problem with constraints
Thanks Franks, I think I have found the problem: the zerolengthelement orientation, however, I could not fix it yet. Element 2 actually represents a fixed type bearing and I think assigning more constraints and/or material could not be write. The Navigator write the orientation at the end of each ze...

Re: Pre-Post processing
Download and install the Navigator from this page: http://openseesnavigator.berkeley.edu/ it is better to use the matlab p-code which is faster than the stand alone version. you will need the Matlab R2014b to be installed on your machine then. but remember that there still are some bugs with the nav...

Hi Frank,
Is the answer still no? I mean any way to bring a model from Strand7 to Opensees?
