Re: modeling viscouz damper
thanks for replying vesna. You said viscous damper add stiffness to the main structure, but 1.what if I want to model pure viscous damper?(the periods of the structure doesn't change so the added stiffness is very little) 2.I checked maxwell model. It consists of a Linear spring and a Nonlinear dashpot...

modeling viscouz damper
Hi every body. I want to model viscous damper.I've followed 2 approaches: 1.using truss element with viscous material:it doesn't work on my model(2D) but it worked on a 3D model.I changed the area of truss on my own model(2D).the displacement of the roof is reduced when i change the area of truss bu...

the diffrence between 2-d and 3-d response of a RC frame
Hi every body.I modeled a 2-d RC frame both on 3-d and 2-d space, and i plotted the pushover but the responses are different.especially the basic deformations(chord rotations) are different.i think i've modeled both of them correctly, because they have have almost the same frequencies and periods.i us...

error in time history analysis
hi every one.when i want to do time history analysis i face an error.what is it and how can i solve it? the error is: OpenSees > source 33.tcl periods are 0.12142953755293168 0.12142953755293168 Model Built WARNING PlainHandler::handle() - constraint matrix not identity, ignoring const raint for nod...
