Peculiar Result with SurfaceLoad Element
I dont know if anyone who used surfaceloadelement to generate pressure load on brick element has come across the fact that opensees is analyzing the surface load even before the surface load pattern is created. I just declared the surfaceload elements and used analyze to analyze something else, but ...

Re: convergence problem with UCSD soil models
Hi,i'm facing the same problem now. Did you get any solution to this problem? My problem is also not converging when I'm updating the material parameters after the gravity stage and when i switch the material to plastic i'm obtaining large deformations with each load step. Do you have any suggestion...

Re: Convergence Failed with UpdateMaterial
I tried with umfpack for surface load analysis after updating material properties. It is analysing but displaying a warning at each analysis step that lvalue is too small. The results are also not correct. May be it is not updating material at all and even not doing the analysis for surface loads an...

Convergence Failed with UpdateMaterial
I did a analysis with gravity loads and surface loads in 2 stages for a PIMY soil. But when I'm trying to update material property after gravity analysis like changing Br and Gr, I'm unable to achieve convergence. This is not happening when I don't update material properties, keeping rest things exa...

opensees stopped working!!
I dont understand why Opensees is stopping to work as i increase my element number beyond 10000 whereas when I try in other systems with same configuration as mine it works fine. Where is it possibly going wrong? Any ideas??

Re: Strain Recorders in Brick Element
Thanks brag006. This is what I got: <ElementOutput eleType="BbarBrick" eleTag="1" node1="103" node2="100" node3="114" node4="116" node5="53" node6="51" node7="63" node8="64"> <GaussPoint number="...

Re: Strain Recorders in Brick Element
One more query Sir. Does it give output in format 11 22 33 12 23 13 from element 1 to 465 at gauss point 1 and then follows the same format for gauss point 2 and so on ,or it follows any other pattern---say like starts with element 1: 11 22 33 12 23 13 for Gauss Points 1 to 8 simultaneously(means 48...

Strain Recorders in Brick Element
Hello, I need to know the format of the strain output generated for a brick element especially when Ive 2 different brick elements involved. My script goes like this: recorder Element -eleRange 1 465 -time -file epsilon_All_1.eps material 2 strain; My elements 450 to 465 are of material 1 and 1 to 4...

Soil-Foundation problem
I have created a half model of a rigid ring foundation on PDMY/PIMY soil and assigned foundation as a elastic isotropic material with high value of elasticity. For both soil and foundation I used bbar brick element. All boundary condition of soil are OK as per my knowledge and the soil and foundatio...

Regarding Meshing in 3D and display commands
Dear All,
Am new to opensees. Just could not figure it out how to do meshing in 3D 8 noded std Brick Element. Can anyone please help with a simple program. And there should be a display output showing the meshing of the model. Iam modelling a cantilever beam with the same element.
thanks
