OpenSEES strange behavior!
Hello everyone, A strange response I am getting from OpenSEES: In Pushover analysis my model (cantilever column) shows to be stable only and only for some specific values of loads and displacements. E.g. my model is stable (converges) if the target displacement for pushover is 3.5 mm and would not c...

Reverse-Cyclic Pushover with variable gravitational load
Hello, I try to conduct reverse-cyclic pushover analysis of a cantilever column. The gravity loads for left-to-right and right-to-left directions are different. Can anyone tell me whether reverse-cyclic analysis with this kind of gravity loading is doable with OpenSEES? If yes, could you help me how...

Re: error in ststic analysis
Hello Vesna, Could you please explain how can I verify my model by eigenanalysis? How to find error(s) in a model by eigenanalysis? I am not good at eigenanalysis, but I modified your script (Vesna Terzic 2010, Eigen analysis of a 2 story frame) for my model. When I run, the OpenSEES just shut down,...

Spring Absorb Force More Than Applied (Pushover)
Hello friends, I modeled a cantilever column with two springs at the bottom. One to represent the hinge at the column-end and another to represent effects of the foundation (Fixation). The column end-spring absorbs (output moment for this element shows) same moment as manually computed, but the othe...

ZeroLength Element with (Zero Output)
Hello everyone,
I am using a hysteretic material/loop assigned to a ZeroLength Element used at the end of a beam. In the output file, the response of the ZeroLength is zero for all steps which in reality should not be.
Can anyone help how fix this problem?
Thanks in advance.

Zero Length Orientation
Hello everyone, I am new with OpenSEES, ===================== I am modeling a beam with bending spring at the two ends. The spring properties are different in the two rotating (clockwise and counterclockwise) directions. I want them rotate opposite to each other (one clockwise the other counterclock...

Re: DispControld PushOver give extreme Values
One of the reasons I found is that: I do not know how much the lateral applying load should be, in terms of gravity load or whatever? I re-do a written scripts about PushOver - load controlled; in that the lateral load is set as 100. I could not find the reason. So, I did the same here but it doesnt...

DispControld PushOver give extreme Values
Hello guys, I am carrying out PushOver Anl of 2D Frame. I put the load to be applied as displacement controlling. In output I see a very big forces and displacements that are not acceptable. I tried many ways I knew, non worked. Can you help how to handle this problem? Note: I used test NormDispIncr...

combination of moment-resisting frame and truss
Hello everyone, I am going to analyze a moment-resisting frame with some truss elements. One member of the frame should have a shear spring while one of its end is pinned (not rigid to the frame). Can anyone help how to set the "pinned connection" in the frame instead of rigid? Is there an...

Re: blank output files for section force/deformation recorde
Thank you Vesna,
My problem solved. The output will come out when the "wipe" command is done or "exit" the opensees.

Re: blank output files for section force/deformation recorde
Dear all,
I also have the same problem, though I am new in this field, I wrote an already done example to get familiar with Opensees.
I put the code very carefully as it was done.= No error.
But all the output files are empty.
Need your help
