Re: Problem with using DataBase commands in OpenSees

Dear fmk, Thank you very much for your kind reply. (1) I dont know how to compile the source codes. Could you kindly compile that latest version and update the same in the website ? Also I tried to download the source codes for the latest version 2.5.0 from http://opensees.berkeley.edu/OpenSees/deve...

Problem with using DataBase commands in OpenSees

Hello, Has anyone used the DataBase Commands in OpenSees wherein we can save and load the states of model during any analysis ? I tried using them as follows (contained in run_analysis.tcl) : source model.tcl database File model_rc_frame save 454545 This will save the model in the state after the an...

Re: sp command for applying displacement time-history

Thanks for your reply. I have used "analysis Transient" and displacement as a function of time. So shouldn't the analysis be dynamic and hence the nodes show some acceleration ? Also, if it is static, then why the top nodes are showing acceleration in y-direction ? Could you explain. Regar...

sp command for applying displacement time-history

Hi I am using sp command to apply displacement timehistory to the top nodes of a single bay single storey frame (Bottom nodes (fixed) - 1 and 2 , Top nodes (free) - 3 and 4). After running the analysis, i get the displacements of nodes 3 and 4 same as that in the file "displacement.dat". B...

pinching4 material

Hi I have modelled a single-storey single-bay RC bare frame and i am calibrating its monotonic and cyclic behaviour with experimental data. The material models i have used for concrete is Concrete07 and for reinforcement is Pinching4. A pinching behaviour was observed in the experimental force-displ...

problem with 'remove' command

I am doing pushover analysis of 2-storey 3-bay RC frame. I am modelling such that when the extreme fiber in core concrete in a member reaches the ultimate strain, the member is considered as failed by removing that element using the remove command. I am pasting the script which takes care of removin...

Axial force in beam & M-Phi for zerolength and forcebeam

I have two queries : 1. I modeled an 2D RC frame using forcebeam columns and have done the pushover analysis. I have used equalDOF for each floor. In the pushover results, I find high axial forces in the beams. When I remove the equalDOF command, the axial forces become small. Same frame i modeled u...

Re: Using Opensees with Wine in Fedora_linux

HI I found 3 executables from the link http://opensees.berkeley.edu/OpenSees/parallel/download.php Among them, OpenSeesTk.exe is working with WINE in linux. The size of this exe file (9748 KB) is lesser than the exe file (12418 KB) found in the link http://opensees.berkeley.edu/OpenSees/user/downloa...

Using Opensees with Wine in Fedora_linux

Hi I am doing seismic analysis on many seismic records. I am presently working in a linux workstation. I have WINE installed in it, which allows the running of windows exe files in linux. I work in a remote computer and access the workstation using shell prompt. I tried running Opensees with wine, b...

Re: Seismic Analysis not running fully for some values of PG

Hello Vesna, I thank you for your fast reply. But, analysis is running completely for some specific values, when i do the analysis for higher PGAs. For example, the analysis will not run fully for PGA 1.0g, but it will completely run for a higher PGA, say 1.15g. I am doing analysis for about 5000 re...

Seismic Analysis not running fully for some values of PGA...

Hi I have modeled a portal frame and tried doing non-linear time history analysis. But, at some PGA levels the analysis is not done for the specified duration. It stops in between. Kindly have a look at it. Also, this issue varies with different seismic files. eg: The analysis will be not be complet...

Local coordinate system.....URGENT

HI In 2D, the bending is about local z-axis (which means, z-axis should be horizontal), as given under fiber section in http://opensees.berkeley.edu/OpenSees/manuals/usermanual/. But in the link http://opensees.berkeley.edu/wiki/index.php/Linear_Transformation, why is the local z-axis vertical for e...

Hi I am trying to do a pushover analysis for a column. Kindly have a look at the way I have entered the section details and tell me whether they are correct or not. Kindly see whether the coordinates of the points for stress recorder are correct or not. The units tcl file is written below the model ...
