Re: Negative eigenvalues
Hello everyone
I have modeled a 3D frame, which has been modeled in SAP2000, too.
the first and second eigen values are as equal as SAP2000. but other eigen values are negative. Why?
Thanks in advance,

Re: Bidirectional Earthquake groundmotion
Thanks for your reply.
In bi-direction analysis the masses should be assigned to X and Y direction?
Another question is about rotational inertia. Is it need to be considered?
How does OpenSees consider the mass in transient analysis?
Thanks.

Bidirectional Earthquake groundmotion
Hi every body, I want to apply bidirectional ground motion to a portal 2D frame. are the masses assigned correct? # ^Y # | # 3____________________4 # | | # | | # | | # | | # | | # | | # | | # =1= =2= -------->X # # # calculated parameters set Weight [expr 2000.]; # beam weight set PCol [expr $Weight...

Re: add a node during a transient analysis
Thanks for your reply dear fmk. it was done. How can I record force in element which will be defined in each step of analysis, in this example when the element recorder was used the output file is contain 1 column and it is time and there isn't force columns, why? recorder Element -file Data/4.out -...

it was done.
How can I record force in truss element?
I have used element recorder before analysis but the output file has a column and that is time .
recorder Element -file Data/4.out -time -ele 4 force
it was done.

add a node during a transient analysis
Hello my friends. I have added a node in middle of a brace in an active braced frame and got this warning, why? Thanks. for {set i 1} {$i<6564} {incr i} { analyze 1 0.005 if {[expr abs([nodeDisp 4 1])]>0.06} { puts "[getTime] [nodeDisp 4 1]" remove node 5 node 5 1.5 1.5 element truss 4 1 5...

scale records in IDA analysis base on SA(T1)
hello everybody
I have conducted IDA analysis in OpenSees, I wanted to scale my record base on SA(T1) is it true that I have used this factor ?
'' -factor [expr ($gmf*$g/$SaT)]''
gmf = 0.1 0.2 0.3 , ...
SaT : Spectral acceleration first mode period
thanks.

hello my friends I have used this recorder for curvature ''recorder Element -file IDAoutput.out -time -ele 1 section 1 deformation;'' The format of output for this recorder is : axial-strain curvature So why there is 4 column except time? My model is 3D output file: 0.02 0.000152875 2.8536e-020 -3.5...
