Re: limitation in use of nonlinearBeamColumn Element
yes...just these two materials are used to model 15-story CBF model.I m going to model Low Cycle Fatigue in Bracings.Consequently I have to devide each bracing into 22 nonlinearBeamColumn elements

i have used just a fatigue material and a uniaxial material for all elements.

Re: limitation in use of nonlinearBeamColumn Element
Dear Vesna
i use this material to model Low-Cycle Fatigue:
uniaxialMaterial Steel02 1 24000000.0 2.1e10 0.003 20 .925 0.15 0.0005 0.01 0.0005 0.01
uniaxialMaterial Fatigue 8 1 -E0 0.091 -m -0.458
but unfortunately for some nonlinearaBeamColumn elements the error message appears

Re: Problem in modeling CBF bracing assembly
Dear vesna i m going to model pinned braces.but when the model is run,there is a difference between period of structure which is modeled by ETABS and OpenSEES. Please guide me. wipe model basic -ndm 2 -ndf 3 node 01 0 0 node 02 6 0 node 11 0 4.5 node 12 6 4.5 node 9110 0. 0. node 91122 6. 4.5 #node ...

Re: Modeling Concentric Braces
Dear Vesna i modeled Bracing as what is suggested in PEER 2008.i m modeling a 15-story building.there are 2 braced bays.and each bracing is devided into 22 elements.but unfortunately after story 10 the following error appears: ":failed to get copy of a material" is there any limitation in ...

limitation in use of nonlinearBeamColumn Element
hi everybody is there any limitation in use of numbers of nonlinearBeamColumn Element? i m modeling Bracings and i have to devided each bracing into 22 nonlinearbeamcolumn elements.after 1046 th nonlinearbeamcolumn elemnet the following error appears: "failed to get copy of a material" tha...

Re: uniaxialMaterial Bilin
in one of those reference it says,Et=LAMBDA*Fy(My) where LAMBDA=lambda*theta-p and in Ibarra et al(2005),it says Et=Gamma*Fy*delta-y.additionally it suggests to consider hysteresis with no deteriaration we can use infinite value for Gamma and 50 to 100 for considering deterioration...I m really conf...

Re: uniaxialMaterial Bilin
dear vesna
there are 2 Lambda in the reference....LAMBDA=Theta-p*lambda....Which one does it mean?...as respect to the reference i got 1.84 for LABDA and 0.08 for Thta-p --------->lambda=1.84/0.08=23....which one should i use in bilin material?
thanks in advance

Dear Vesna I have already read that report.I need to clarify that by means of stiffness and strength significant deterioration I intend to model progressive failure of braces without removing them from the model during analysis, as it is complicated procedure. considering that I need a proper steel ...

Re: uniaxialMaterial Bilin
Dear Vesna
thanks for your helpful answer
I also need to consider strength and stiffness deterioration in CBF' braces' inelastic behavior. In your point of view what is the proper way to do so?
thanks in advance.

dear vesna I m going to use bilin material to model strength deterioration in order to study post yield bahaviour of CBF braces. regarding to afakhimi's post I also need to know what $Lamda_S $Lamda_C $Lamda_A $Lamda are?are they "reference cumulative plastic rotation" or...........? thank...
