Re: Compile OpenSees, OpenSeesSP, OpenSeesMP on Ubuntu 12.04
Dear Frank, Thanks a lot for your reply. It is really a tricky problem. I did try to build parallel without any success. However, since I realize that running OpenSees in Linux, the speed increase about 4 or 5 times. In addition to that I bought a new computer with double speed of processor. The tot...

Compile OpenSees, OpenSeesSP, OpenSeesMP on Ubuntu 12.04
Hi everyone, I'm doing research about nonlinear analysis of concrete structure. Because my model is very large so it took very long time to get results. I know OpenSees is also developed to run in parallel computer so I'm trying to go this way in order to improve the speed of running my model. I'm c...

Re: Number of DOFs
Thank you for answering my question. Your answer is about restraining the dofs, but that way I think every nodes still have the same number of dofs. My purpose is trying to create an element with 9 nodes, each 8 external nodes have 5 dofs, and 1 internal node has 2 dofs, so in total the local stiffn...

Number of DOFs
My research relates to shell element and I'm trying to use Opensees as FEM framework. I want to create a new element with 9 nodes, however the number of dofs at each node is not the same. Can I define nodes with different dofs in Opensees. In addition, at each node of the shell element there are 3 d...

ShellMITC4, ShellNL, Non-Flat Shell Element
Hi everyone, I have some question regarding shell elements developed in OpenSees. As I know the shell elements are based on the concept of non-flat (or curved, or degenerated) shell element, which was first proposed by Ahmad et al. 1970. As I understand that this type of shell element requires us to...
