Parameter Command

Dear all, I wanna use Parameter Command and updateparamter Command. How can I find the specific name of the paramter? For example, parameter 1 element 4 section 3 material 1 E How can I find other properties beside E in this material? For instance, how can I find the name of sce in the following mat...

Concrete01 and Concrete02

Dear all, I am modeling column with fiber section using both Cocnrete01 and Concrete02. However, when I am doing static monotonic analysis, the elastic stiffenss of column with these two materials are totally different. The stiffness of column fiber with concrete02 is two times more than that of col...

Please google Peer report.
You can find the report by 2008 report and 08 number.

BRB element

Dear Vesna, fmk and Scott, It's said Opensees plan to provide a BRB element in Opensees. And it is made by Dr. Mahin. However, I found few information about it. Is it based on this peer report 2008/08 "Toward earthquake-restrained design of concentrically braced steel-frame structures" ? I...

Re: About zerolength element

Thank you so much, Dr. Scott.

This command is for 2d element.
For example, if I plan to couple x,y,z direction together. So I should couple x,y and y,z and x,z seperately, is this correct?

About zerolength element

I set three zerolength elements in orthogonal directions by the command below. element zeroLength 951 1 1111 -mat 20 20 1 -dir 1 2 3; or element zeroLength 951 1 1111 -mat 20 -dir 1 ; element zeroLength 951 1 1111 -mat 20 -dir 2 ; element zeroLength 951 1 1111 -mat 1 -dir 3; 1. But they do not work ...

Re: coupling effect of ground motion in horizontal, vertical

thx, Dr. Scott. And I found it 's because I set three zerolength elements in orthogonal directions. But they do not work toghether. I mean it seams the zerolength element only work assuming the other two direction is fixed. Is this the setting of the zerolength element? And I will open a new topic t...

coupling effect of ground motion in horizontal, vertical

Dear everyone,

Do we need specific setting to get the coupling effect of structure response with horizontal and vertical ground motion at the same time?
I just can not find the coupling effect in my model...

Sorry to bother everyone.

Re: problem about node acceleration in SDOF

Anyway, I think my model got the opposite results when the stiffness is extremely large or extremely small. When the stiffness is extremely, the response accceleration is very small. When the stiffness is relatively small which means the structure is in the long period, the response acceleration got...

Re: problem about node acceleration in SDOF

The most wired thing is that the max response acceleration can not be smaller than PGA, even if I enlongate the period. I do not know if it is correct... I build a simple model about the same situation. Every one check it for me whether there is anything incorrect. Thank you for all. wipe all ; # De...

problem about node acceleration in SDOF-already solved, thx

I model one SDOF structure and input one ground motion. But the response acceleration I got is larger than that on the response spectrum when I make the period of the structure longer for example with isolator. I checked several times, the stiffness and period are all correct. I am confused why the ...
