damping ratio
Dear Silvia I have another question. I want to model a SDOF structure resting on the soil layer. I want to define a damping ratio of 0.05 for the elastic beam-column element. But, I couldn’t find the exact way. Is it possible in OpenSEES? The only option that I could find for defining of damping is ...

restore command
Dear Silvia I analyze a soil mass model under earthquake loading which is very time-consuming. I need to restart the analysis from the last step in the case of any interruption in the analysis process. I tried to use “restore” command but I couldn’t (or it may not work). Please, help me in this rega...

UMD2FA error
Hi
I build a dynamic two-phase model that during analysis the following error occures:
UMD2FA: LVALUE too small! Must be greater than 17047040
WARNING UmfpackGenLinSolver::solve(void)- -4 returned in factorization UMD2FA()
Please help me to find the origin of this error.
Sincerely
Shahir

Dear fmk I followed the analysis process and found that the error is occurred in the “Jacobian3D” function. In this function during the execution of the “new” command for building of the coordinates tensor, the error is occurred and the program is terminated. It is interesting that the error is obse...

Compiling problem!!!
Dear friends I analyzed an example (nonlinear seismic) in two ways: 1. Using downloaded OpenSEES.exe (version 1.7.3). 2. Compiling OpenSEES (version 1.7.3) with VC6 and using the new built OpenSEES.exe The first analysis is finished successfully up to the last step (25000) but, the second analysis f...

2 stage analysis
Dear Silvia I am going to analyze a two-stage model (gravity and seismic stages). I wanted to change the material model at the end of gravity stage but fmk said me that I can't do it using OpenSees. I want to know is it possible to change a parameter of material model (Poisson's ratio) at the end of...

analysis with 2 steps
Dear fmk
I have another question.
can I change a parameter of material model (Poisson's ratio) during analysis (at the end of gravity analysis step)?
Best regards
Shahir

analysis with 2 steps
Dear Silvia
I want to analysis an example with 2 steps: gravity & seismic excitation. The material model and boundary conditions are different in these steps.
How can I change material model and boundary conditions at the end of gravity analysis step?
Best regards
Shahir
