Triple Friction Pendulum Element does not work
Hi all I want to use the Triple Friction Pendulum Element developed by Nhan D. Dao. So I am trying to familiarize myself through the posted examples, however it seems that the element does not work. The error message that I get is: "OPS_GetDoubleInput--error reading 20 WARNING error reading ele...

Error message in Parallel: "child killed:unknown signal"
Hi all I am trying to use Opensees in parallel. So after following the instructions (http://opensees.berkeley.edu/wiki/index.php/Parallel_Processing) for installing MPICH2 and testing by executing the example cpi, then I tried to run Opensees in parallel. However I get the following error message: &...

Re: Errors in Parallel Processing
Hi Reagan I have the same problem as you had : cpi.exe works but when I try to use mpiexec with opensees (e.g: mpiexec -np 4 OpenSeesMP test.tcl) I get the error msg :"Child kiled:unknown signal". I tried to remove my credential using mpiexec -remove and then restore them using mpiexec -re...

Re: Modelling force capacity of fluid viscous damper
Vesna
Thank you for your reply!
I know these two materials. My question is how can I model the force capacity of a damper, since I think that with these materials we cannot model the saturation of the damper force, right?

Modelling force capacity of fluid viscous damper
Hi I would like to ask how I can model the saturation of the damper force after it reaches the force capacity of the damper. As far as I know by using the viscous material when the strain rate increases the stress keeps increasing linearly (if alpha=1) or non-linearly (if alpha is not equal to 1). H...

Global force element recorder`
Hi
I would like to ask if the global force element recorder includes both the viscous forces and the restoring forces (i.e. the forces produced because of the stiffness of the element) or just the stiffness forces?
Thank you very much in advance!

Inconsistency of periods of Example 5
Hi, I have noticed something really weird in the "Example 5. 2D Frame, 3-story 3-bay, Reinforced-Concrete Section". The first three period of this model are : T1 = 0.43 sec T2 = 0.11 sec T3 = 0.06 sec. I wanted to check the effect of the gravity loads in the stiffness of the RC elements; t...
