Re: problem with convergence

you're right vesna...the problem is that my professor isn't sure that results are correct so I'm tring to control that there aren't error. also in columns moments at the bottom and at the top are very different and during analysis (fist apply gravity load and than lateral loads) axial loads in colum...

Re: problem with convergence

thanks vesna, if I increase Nincr it runs! I have another question...I've see that moments of beams are very different from right to left section..is it normal? I tried Exemple 5 of OpenSees manual and they aren't differen, so I think there is a problem in my model...do you have idea of what could i...

problem with convergence

I'm analyzing an infilled frame of 5 storeys and 3 bays. I'm doing a static puhs-over analysis with force proportional to mass. I've problem with the convergence because I've tried to change a lot of parameters (in analysis and in the model) but it doesnt'work. Do you have any suggest? please help m...

Re: read files and write

thank you for your reply. In this way it works but it reads and writes only the first date of each files...instead in each files there are 3 dates. is it possible read each of them and write all?
thanks a lot

read files and write

I would know if it is possible to create a procedure that read some filea (they are files of output) and writes all of them in a single file...I've tried to do this but it doesen't work. In every file I would read there are 3 dates and they are called DefMAxpilastro# with # that goes from 50 to 69 a...

Re: time-history analysis doesen't converge

the strange aspect is that also if the converge dosen't have problems the result are wrong...infact the recorder of base shear recorder Node -file TelaioNonLineare/taglioBase1.out -node 1 -dof 1 reaction recorder Node -file TelaioNonLineare/taglioBase2.out -node 3 -dof 1 reaction gives two opposite ...

Re: time-history analysis doesen't converge

I've tried to change the dt using my earthquake and it works...but the results aren't correct. My earthquake has a dt of 0.01 instead i put a dt in the analysis of 0.005. can I do this? it can interpolate between points? becuase it works but it gives very small displcements. Also if a record the acc...

time-history analysis doesen't converge

Hi! I'm analyzing an infilled frame of one bay. I've done pushover analysis and the model works well. Now I have to do time-hystory analysis with some earthquake accelerogram. I have written the parameter of analysis as in the example4 and I'm not very practical with these values so I don't know wha...

recorder at a certain value of deformation

Hello! I'm doing an analysis of an RC frame. In order to see which and when the columns go to failure I would like to know when the concrete reach the ultimate deformation I've assigned to it. In order to do this I record the stressStrain of the ultimate fiber of each column and I see for which mome...

HELP zeroLenght

Hello! I'm trying to model the mechanism of shear failure of a column. I put a zeroLenghtSection up the column and I've assigned to it a force-displacement response that would be the column's shear response. It doesn't work but it doesn't warn me about none problema...just it doesen't puts out what ...

deformation or displacement?

Hello! I have a doubt about the assignation of a force-deformation response at one section...I'm using the hysteretic material and I would like to create a shear response for a column. So I dont'understand if I have to put the values of displacement or deformation of section....from the manual it se...

zeroLenght element orientation

Hi! I have some problems with the zeroLenght element..I'm analyzing a simple portale frame and I would add 2 ZeroLenght element up the column in order to simulate the shear failure. I specified the orientation of ZeroLenght element bacause I want the x axis up (as one of the column)...is it right? I...

gravity load in BuildingTcl

hi! I've just started to practice Building Tcl...I find it very usefull and practical but I've some problemy with loads. 1) I dont' understand if the gravity load is a concentrated or a ditributed load. When I define the elevation model I can put gravity load on the beam so I think it is a distribut...

Re: section Uniaxial

thank you Andrea for your answer...but in this way I think there is an error because it doesen't recognize none section...it isn't? really I don't understand the problem because I tried also to make a sample example with a cantilever and it doesn't work..the result are all zero!!! #mensola caricata ...
