PPGap-pushover test problem
Dear Vesna, I was trying to model the shear keys on a bridge bent. A super small part of code is below. My assumption is to bond, bearing material in transverse direction and also the shear key effect as parallel materials. By the way for sure I use displacement control PO. In ElasticPPgap material ...

Forcebased element response localization???
Dear Frank, Vesna My question will be about the localization issues of deformation in forcebased element of opensees. Lets say you have a nonlinearbeam with a fiber section. I think, the number of integration points assigned will affect the hypothetical plastic hinge length. So if I increase the num...

Re: fixed bearing modelling???
By fixed I mean translation in both transverse and long direction is fixed. So at both side the deck in transverse direction deck nodes will be moving together with the pier cap center.

fixed bearing modelling???
Hi Vesna and all, I am modelling a 3 bent and 5 pier per bent simply supported RC bridge. The superstructure consists of I beams. The I beams rests on the fixed steel bearings which are located on the cap beam. I modelled the piers with nonlinear beam column and assigned rigid offset till the middle...

Structures' state in Pushover
Hi Vesna and others, I am doing a multi modes pushover analysis. As you know, I apply each time a different pattern on the structure. My problem is: each time, I have to start pushing from the undeformed state of the structure. Is there anyway to do it without exiting each time. By exiting, I mean w...

HELP:nonlinbeamcolumn element recorder
Dear Vesna and All, I am confused about the recorder: recorder Element -xml PierforcesSec1.out -time -eleRange 1 10 section 1 force recorder Element -xml PierforcesSec1.out -time -eleRange 1 10 section 1 force In 3D, it gives, P MZ MY T VY VZ. When I check the results for integration points at top a...

rayleigh damping,LTHA????
Dear Vesna, All I was comparing an elastic cantilever LTHA in Opensees with LTHA in SAP2000. I assume the only damping model in OS is rayleigh. I defined 0.02 percent damping and in sap2000 I also defined 0.02 percent constant damping. The results came out to be different. To check I ran the analyse...

Equaldof slip and recorder problem
Hi Vesna and all, In modelling of a column, I use zerolengthsection element to take care of the strain penetration at the bottom of the column. Its a 3d model. I am confused about constraining the bottom and top of the zerolengthsection element. I use equalDOF 1 2 1 3 5; So I constrained no 2 node t...

!!!Bondslipmaterial Warning
Hi Vesna and all, In my opensees modelling documents, I have been using SI type unit source. I tried to add also the slip simulation for the bottom of column through uniaxialMaterial Bond_SP01 and zerolength section. However, when I run opensees has a warning "use ksi and in for strain penetrat...

HELP/nonlinearbeamcolumnpush
Dear Vesna, I performed pushover analysis on a 50m column with nonlinearbeamcolumn element. To see what it differs I performed the analysis with 5 element and only with one element. When I push the 5 element model, at a top level displacement of 2.28m the analysis fails and opensees gives notices 'B...

Please give me a hand. Thank you very much for everything. Note:Im already using the latest version. Murathan
