Beam-Column Elements & Brick Elements in the same analys

I would like to use Beam-Column Elements (6DOF per joint) with Brick Elements (3DOF per joint) in a 3D-analysis. If I set: model BasicBuilder -ndm 3 -ndf 6 when using 20Node Brick elements at the same time I get: FATAL ERROR TwentyNodeBrick (tag:1) has different number of DOFs at its nodes even if I...

I am sorry that I don't have an answer for your question. I am also trying to simulate a concrete joint with 3D-8node brick elements, but I have just started working with Opensees. I would like to ask you a question. What kind of material are you using for your 8-node brick elements? Could you maybe...

Reference for 3D-Template Elasto-Plastic Material

I am trying to use 3D Template Elasto-Plastic Material to model Concrete in a 3-Dimension problem. I don’t know what “tensorial internal variables”, “scalar internal variables” and “initial values for scalar internal variables” in Elasto-Plastic State are. Could anybody please give me a reference (f...

Questions on beam-column joint analysis

Dear users, I am trying to analyze a 3D model of a beam-column joint with opensees1.5.exe (tcl/tk 8.4.4). My approach is to separate elements of concrete from these of steel reinforcement and to connect them with zero length elements of bond stress material. So, I used: a) 20-Node or 8-Node Standard...

Need for help

Dear users, my name is Timosidis Dimitris and I am a Phd student in Department of Civil Engineering, Democritus University of Thrace, Greece. I am a new user of OpenSees and I am trying to analyze a 3D model of a beam-column joint, but I have some problems. I would like to ask some questions about. ...
