Hey thank you very much for the help....My model is working now.......I think it is giving correct results...Instead of writing two separate tcl codes (one for geometry other for dynamic analysis) I wrote a single code and my model is working now..
Thank you very much for your help

Hii... I am sourcing the input file
my input file name is geom.tcl and the dynamic analysis file name is dynamic.tcl so I use
opensees geom.tcl
opensees dynamic.tcl
these commands to execute the codes

Hi
I used the model command in geometry input file as
model basic -ndm 3 -ndf 6
And this geometry input code is working fine and giving correct time periods

Problem in pushover

Hi I am having problem in pushover analysis ...the structure I am analyzing is a L shaped vertical rod and I am using 3 dimensional analysis. The free vibration results from Opensees are matching with that of SAP 2000. But when I am trying to do pushover using the following Opensees code set Dispmax...

error help

Hi I am analyzing 3 story 3d building with rigidDiaphragm so it should have 3 DOFS at each node leading to total 9 DOFS. If I am doing analysis using eigen generalized 4 I am getting four eigen vectors but If I give any value more than 4 then it is giving the following error message. Could you pleas...

Thank you Silvia. Last time I did not give restraints for the master node Now my code is running. But there is another problem. I am analyzing 3 story 3d building with rigidDiaphragm so it should have 3 DOFS at each node leading to total 9 DOFS. If I am doing analysis using eigen generalized 4 I am ...

Mass matrix

Hi I am modeling 3d building, each floor is modeled using rigidDiaphragm. Nodes of a particular story is constrained to a master node at that story , using rigidDiaphragm. If I define mz and mx mass for all the story nodes instead of defining mx,mz,Iy for the master node will Opensees automatically ...

Hi
I have several number of nodes so defining rigid floor diaphragm is little bit tedious.
More over I wanted to know whether modeling the floor slab with quad element will take into account the rigid floor diaphragm effect.

Quad Element

HI all,
I am using quad element to model floor slab. Could you please tell me does it take into account the effect in plane membrane deformation as well as the effect of bending.

Can it be used to model plate member with flexural and axial deformation together.

Rigid floor diaphragm

Hi
No I am not modeling shear wall with flat slab. It is simple building having rigid floor. I wanted to know how to model it in Opensees?

Please let me know, whether quad element can be used to model rigid floor effect in the building.

With regards

Rigid floor diaphragm

Hi I am doing nonlinear dynamic analysis of asymmetric plan shear buildings. I have the following queries: 1) In Opensees there is a RigidDiaphragm command can it be used to model rigid floor effect in a shear building shear buildings? 2) I was using Quad Element (plane stress) to model the floor sl...

Hello Juan
I checked about the problem you had. Te offset lengths are to be defined with respect to global coordinate system keeping in mind the sign. The sign of offset will depend on the direction of offsets with respect to global coordinate system.

Hinge rotation

I am using beam with hinges element. Here it is noted that "The valid queries to a beamWithHinges element when creating an ElementRecorder (page 307) object are 'force,' 'stiffness,' 'rotation' (hinge rotation), or 'section $secNum secArg1 secArg2...' Where $secNum refers to the integration poi...
