I want to save the output data in OpenSees as MAT-file. Can we do that? If so, how?
Thank you very much!!

How to impose a initial displacement/velocity??
I modeled a simply supported beam with lumped masses at 50 nodes and the nodes were connected using elasticBeamColumn elements. I want to vibrate the structure to get the vibration responses. Instead of applying a node force, I need to impose a initial displacement or velocity to one node. I don't k...

hi, Frank, I think you misunderstood my question. I am wondering why the interval of the time, t(n)-t(n-1), is not constant. Since I set -dT 0.01, I expect that the interval of the time in the recorder remains 0.01. In another word, the currnt time point minus the previous time point should be 0.01 ...

I used -dT 0.01 for my case where the time step for analyzing is 0.0001. The time I got in the recorder time is: 0.0001 0.0102 0.0203 0.0304 0.0404 0.0504 0.0604 .......... In another word, the invertal of time in the file sometimes is 0.0101 and sometimes is 0.01. Why is it not constant 0.01 I set ...

How many elements should we use?
When I look at the example 03, only one element is used for modeling the reinforeced concrete column. Is this accurate enough? What's the rule of thumb to select the number of elements for modeling structures with nonlinear fiber section? Thanks in advance.

I did not use ReinforcingSteel material now. I am sorry that I did not say it very clearly. However, I am not sure how to solve the problem when I do the pushover analysis with Concrete01 material and a elastic perfectly plastic model (not ReinforcingSteel), it gives me the warning like following: W...

hi, Silva, Thank you so much for the reply. I did contact the author about using Reinforcingsteel problem. He said this may due to converge problem in OpenSees or the strain is too large. So I try to track which reason causes my problem. Now here is my situation: I modeled the column using nonlinear...

I did change the material one at a time. 1. If I only change concrete01 to concrete02, my static pushover case is not converge and also the earthquake case failed after just several seconds. 2. If I remain concrete01 for concrete material and use reinforcingsteel for rebars, for both pushover and ea...

one question about using "uniaxialMaterial ReinforcingS
I modeled a RC bridge with one column bent in OpenSees. Initially, I used Concrete01 for concrete material and I used a combinatin of "uniaxialMaterial ElasticPPGap, uniaxialMaterial ElasticPP, and uniaxialMaterial Parallel" to obtain a elastic perfectly plastic model for reinforcement mat...
