Re: Question about modeling viscous damper

Can you share with us the way you found to define the fluid viscous material? Don't you use the viscous material with the truss element? And Vesna if you don't define elastic modulus I don't think you add stiffness to the structure.

Re: parametric study with more than one cores

thanks for the quick answer Dr. McKenna. I don't get though why the examples from the handouts http://opensees.berkeley.edu/OpenSees/workshops/parallel/Agenda_files/slide0003.htm are working for single core machines but when I am trying to run them on a double core machine or on our cluster I get th...

parametric study with more than one cores

hi, for parametric study with OpenSeesMP if I want to take advantage of more than one core on my machine, each one has 8 processors, do I need any additional commands than those on example from the documentation for OpenSees parallel that follows? set pid [getPID] set np [getNP] set recordsFileID [o...

Thanks for the fast response. I downloaded the example again and run it but i still have the same problem. In my model I only change the amplitude of the sine wave (try it with GMSineAccAmpl = 0.5, it happens with smaller values too, but it is more obvious with larger) and the duration of the sine w...

Sine wave question

Dear Silvia or anyone else who can help. I run example 5 with the Inelastic Fiber RC section under the sine wave excitation (Ex5.Frame2D.analyze.Dynamic.sine.Uniform file). I record the displacement at the free end node (node 41) and plot this displacement with time. My building is vibrating between...

segmentation violation

I am using OpenSeesMP parallel. First I had a problem to run the previous version of openseesMP with latest version of tcl (8.5) and i had to install tcl84 to do that. But now i can not run the latest version of opensees(2.2.0) Second I am running the examples I found on OpenSees Parallel page but I...

parallel Examples

Dr. McKenna

We talked at OpenSees Days and I asked you for some more examples on parallel analysis. Can you please upload or email them . What I am interested in mostly, is the case of multiple runs of the same model for different ground motion records.

Thank you in advance

I found why some time steps appeared in previous lines.
Because I was saving two different recorders with the same name.
But I still have the problem with the last line not being complete

Recorder problem

Hi all, I have a problem with the recorder output. I am doing transient analysis of a four story building. When I get the recorder outputs, some of the time steps seem to be missing or they appear in the previous time steps. Also in the last line of the output I don't get all the values. For example...

display problem

Hi all,

I have a problem with the displays used in the examples.
Although i can see the displays while OpenSees is running, after the analysis end the display windows are not responding so i cant use them at all.
Does anyone know why this happens?
Thanks in advance for your help.

input parameters from matlab

Hi
in my work i need to call opensees through matlab. Althought i know how to do that (! Opensees.exe scriptname.tcl
) i do not know how to call my input parameters for opensees through matlab. For example i input a load in matlab and then i need opensees to use this value.

Thank you in advance
